Compare 2020 Jaguar F-PACE vs 2020 Audi Q5
The 2020 Jaguar F-Pace is the first Jaguar SUV, and it has been well received by critics and shoppers alike. Yet how does it measure up to rivals? Throughout this review, we’ll examine how the F-Pace stands up to its competitor, the 2020 Audi Q5.
Both SUVs have an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drivetrains. Audi Q5 shoppers may choose a turbo four with 220 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque or a supercharged V-6 with 272 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. The F-Pace, on the other hand, starts you offer with a three-liter supercharged V-6. This powertrain cranks out 340 horsepower and 332 lb.-ft. of torque.
That’s a net gain of 68 horses and 37 lb.-ft. over the Audi Q5. Furthermore, if you choose the 2020 F-Pace S edition, Jaguar cranks performance up to 380 horsepower. While Audi was forced to drop its diesel, Jaguar offers a turbodiesel with 318 lb.-ft. of torque.
Style and Technology
This year’s Audi Q5 is part of an automotive generation dating to 2009. The 2020 Jaguar F-Pace is truly new. This age difference really shows when you look at the level of amenities. Perhaps the most surprising omission is the lack of USB ports. The Audi doesn’t let you charge or connect a phone. Audi’s proprietary digital music interface is still the only thing available on the base edition. Again, this system dates back years. Furthermore, if you step up to the basic Audi MMI infotainment system, you are limited to awkward dash-mounted controls. To get anything better, you have to pay more for the Q5 Prestige trim. Audi Q5 editions don’t offer keyless ignition or onboard WiFi while the F-Pace does allow you to enjoy both.
Frankly, 21st Century technology is part of the package with every 2020 Jaguar F-Pace. InControl Protect provides emergency communications on every edition. InControl electronics include an easy-to-use touchscreen. This eight-inch display is paired with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. With the Tech package, you get a full LCD instrument cluster and InControl Pro with its 10-inch screen. Jaguar’s exclusive Activity Key is a waterproof bracelet. You can lock your keys in the car, knowing that the bracelet will unlock the doors whenever you return to your Jaguar.
Surprisingly, the 2020 Audi Q5 offers absolutely no crash avoidance features. The 2020 Jaguar F-Pace, on the other hand, offers all of the good stuff. For starters, there’s a surround view system to watch all areas around the car during your slow maneuvers. Watching the lane lines, a departure system warns you to straighten up and an assist is ready with automated help when the warning isn’t heeded.
Trying to help you avoid rear-ending a stopped or slowing car, the F-Pace forward collision alert warns the driver and then triggers automatic braking if necessary. A speed limiter notifies the driver if the F-Pace speed is excessive. Adaptive cruise control lowers speed to maintain safety. Parallel and perpendicular parking is easier with Jaguar’s automated system to handle the tight maneuvering. Auto-leveling headlamps train the light to follow the car’s trajectory.
